Holiday Cards to Wounded Soldiers

Thank you to all who sent out holiday cards to wounded soldiers at the beginning of this month. The US Beauties family sent out 4 (accounted 4, it is a busy season to get responses from everyone). Thank you to Mrs. New Mexico Karen for sending out a card this season.

Crowning Celebration December 13 2009

We had my crowning celebration on December 13 2009 at our home on Fort Belvoir. There was a cute cake and some great flowers as well as drinks for those who came. Everyone who came got a Passionately Pink for the Cure team pin. Todd was on hand to place my crown and banner on me and my daughter had a blast. I would like the give thanks to the Lord, without whom this wouldn't be happening, He has a plan for me. I thank my husband for being so supportive of me when others weren't. I would like to thank the US Beauties organization for providing the cake and the flowers and the opportunity to represent the beautiful state of Virginia as Mrs. Virginia US Beauties.

In the works... Self Esteem Workshop

Hey all! Just keeping you informed about a future event coming up. It is still in the works but I hope to have it ready by Spring Break.

Instead of having a "Princess" for the mentoring program from the pageant (I am new to the area and don't really know families with girls between 7-13 well enough to mentor their daughter) I am putting together a self-esteem workshop called "Becoming Who You Are." This is a workshop for middle school girls. Middle school is the hardest time and it is the best time to help shape a young woman to face the world with confidence in who she is, not what she looks like. It will be a 12 week course, meeting weekly for about an hour to an hour and a half. We can only take up to ten girls, we want to keep it intimate.

This workshop focuses on three different aspects of self-esteem: physical (body image), mental/emotional and social. Being strong in these three things, I believe, will allow a young woman to be strong through anything that is thrown her way.

I am not parenting these young girls, 99% of the time the parents are saying the exact same thing I will be saying to these girls BUT middle school girls sometimes have to hear from someone else before they actually listen.

God Bless,
Jacki

Good Samaritan Nursing Home, October 24, 2009

I know this one is out of order but I thought I had already posted this...oops! Ha Ha Ha

Octobe 24 was Make a Difference day and my family and I all headed to the Good Samaritan nursing home and spend a couple hours with some residents playing some games. We played dominoes and got our bottoms kicked! It was nice being there because I used to go there in high school to do the same. We had a good time and they loved Dakota.

Manassas Veteran's Day Parade, November 7, 209

Today we drove to Manassas VA for their first ever Veteran's day parade. They had gear from every war and it was very fun. It definitely meant more to be, being a veteran and married to an active duty soldier. When the colors passed and the national anthm was played, I got really teary eyed. Our country really is amazing. We don't have to worry about so many things that other countries do. We have clean water, the government will help us (you got to fight for it but they will help), we can strive to be whatever we want to be and that to me makes me thankful that I am an American.

Photo: Me and my daughter enjoyed the floats at the parade.

Autograph signing

Howdy! I am currently working on setting up an autograph signing with Camille la Vie at the Springfield Mall. It is a boutique that also sells wedding dress but the store is definitely fit for a queen...which is every woman! More information later.

A Halloween Party!

Hey all! I will be at the Springfield mall from 3-5pm on October 31 for a Halloween celebration. There is facepainting and some cool games as well as trick-or-treating from 5-7pm. I won't be there for the trick-or-treating because I need to get home to see the neighborhood kids have fun. Hope to see you there.

September Contest Winner!

I am honored to have one the US Beauties Pageant September contest. I won a beautiful set of earrings that I will be wearing at the national pageant. We had to write about our "finest pageant moment" and since I haven't been competiting that long I chose to write about a time during a pageant when my pinwheels for a costume wouldn't work and the judges started laughing (didn't hurt my feelings...it was pretty funny). I think this is my first time winning something and I am excited. Coming up on Saturday is my crowning ceremony. I am really excited. I am wanting more appearances in Virginia so if you know of any businesses that are looking for a "celebrity" email me at mrsvirginia.beauties@yahoo.com

Jacki

Bozzelli's Bros Deli Grand Opening

Today I welcomed guests to the grand opening of Bozzelli's Bros Deli! What a great group of people to meet with. There was complimentary food from 11-12. I love doing things like this for small businesses because they make this place seem more like my hometown. Dakota was a big hit, as always. I made a few contacts for future appearances. It was a great day.

Alexandria Arts Festival, September 12 2009

I had a great time looking at what the local artists are coming up with these days. I met a lot of really neat people including Miss Senior Virginia. Such a lovely lady. I would have loved to been able to get some new pieces of art but most things were way out of our price range. There was some beautiful jewelry, http://www.sdjdesigns.com/ , was a favorite of mine. Dakota got to meet a giant parrot!

I got the idea of Mrs. pageants out there, a lot of people didn't know a Mrs pageant existed.

Fall Fashion show in the works!

Hey! I am currently working on putting together a fall fashion show on Fort Belvoir. I think our tax-free exchange is something we should take advantage of so I will be working with the PX for the donation of clothes (that way they can advertise their merchandise).

I will be working with MWR for the money part. We will have lights, music and tons of seating.

We want to have all ages, from the toddlers to adults that way everyone can check out what they have at the PX. This should be tons of fun.

Graciously,
Jacki

Photograher found!

I think I found my photographer for my fun crown and banner shoot. Visit her website at www.perfectlyposhphotography.com to see some of her work. I look forward to working with her and have some great fun ideas for this shoot.

I am headed to Camille la Vie for my dress, I will wear this dress for my shoot and then again for my crowning celebration in October. Now I just need to find a great pair of heels to go with it. I can do shoe shopping without any troubles.... it the pants shopping because I can never find the right pants that make me go WOW!

Ft. Belvoir Elementary Back to School Party

Just a couple hours after the Pooch Plunge, my family attended the Ft. Belvoir Elementary Back to School celebration. What a great idea! There was a water slide, bouncy castle, a firetruck for kids to sit in and try on the gear. Inside there was popcorn, hot dogs, cotton candy, dancing and tons more activities set up in the gym.

I met a few girls who were interested in becoming my mentee but couldn't find them later.... if only I had business cards!

I got to meet the principal who was really nice and I have been invited back to future events and am being asked to read at the monthly guest readings they have! That goes in so well with my platform of literacy!

Pictures soon.

Pooch Plunge!

On August 29 my family and I attended the Pooch Plunge, put on my MWR on Ft Belvoir. It was a great time. Our rambuctious little pup, Ranger, got the party started by being the first in the pools (they had a kiddy pool and a big pool). They had a contest for best trick and even costumes! The winners got to take home a cool little treat basket for their four legged family member. TONS of dogs showed up.....from a chihauhau in a bikini to a St Bernard I could use as a couch! People seemed to really enjoy this activity so I hope there will be more in the future.

Dakota and Todd got their picture taken with the MWR dog mascot! Pictures soon!

Back To School Fashion Show

My first event as Mrs. Virginia US Beauties 2010 was a back to school fashion show at The Springfield Mall in Springfield Virginia. This was a great event to see what it in appropriate fashion for youngsters this fall. I was in style apparently because I was wearing boots and boots are in! Yeah!

I loved this event because I believe it can boost the kids self-esteem. The kids on the runway looked like they were having a great time and since everyone clapped for everyone, I am sure they felt fantastic up there.

I hope to be able to go to more fun events like that! Pictures soon.

Getting ready for the big move!

Greetings,

Well, on August 18th we will be arriving in Ft. Belvoir Virginia. On that day, my reign as Mrs. Virginia U.S. Beauties 2010 begins. I am very excited and have high hopes for many events during my reign. First thing I must do though, is meet with the Garrison Commander to let him know that I am living on his post and that I am available for events.

If you are interested in having me appear at one of you events, please email me at mrsvirginia.beauties@yahoo.com

Graciously,
Jacki
