Hey all! Just keeping you informed about a future event coming up. It is still in the works but I hope to have it ready by Spring Break.
Instead of having a "Princess" for the mentoring program from the pageant (I am new to the area and don't really know families with girls between 7-13 well enough to mentor their daughter) I am putting together a self-esteem workshop called "Becoming Who You Are." This is a workshop for middle school girls. Middle school is the hardest time and it is the best time to help shape a young woman to face the world with confidence in who she is, not what she looks like. It will be a 12 week course, meeting weekly for about an hour to an hour and a half. We can only take up to ten girls, we want to keep it intimate.
This workshop focuses on three different aspects of self-esteem: physical (body image), mental/emotional and social. Being strong in these three things, I believe, will allow a young woman to be strong through anything that is thrown her way.
I am not parenting these young girls, 99% of the time the parents are saying the exact same thing I will be saying to these girls BUT middle school girls sometimes have to hear from someone else before they actually listen.
God Bless,
Jacki
